Meridia
Meridia (sibutramine) is a prescription agent specially designed for the treatment of obesity that cannot be dealt with by simple dieting and exercising. Many patients are unable to fight their food cravings and obtain consistent results. Meridia is a medicine that can help them with it, and provided that it’s taken regularly this medication can be very efficient in reducing total body mass. Taking Meridia is sometimes associated with side effects you may get. The following side effects are supposed to be reported in case you get them, as they are quite serious: seizure, weakness, high blood pressure, high fever, severe headache, pounding heartbeats, sweating, blurred vision, agitation, confusion, easy bruising, joint pain, restlessness, and chest pain. Less serious side effects are more likely, and they may indicate your body is adjusting to the dosage prescribed. If you notice such symptoms as dry mouth, headache, back pain, constipation, trouble sleeping, upset stomach, runny or stuffy nose, loss of appetite, and mild skin rash, there is no need to get worried, as these are most likely to go away on their own without any need for you to come up with some kind of treatment. You will need to discuss your treatment with a doctor to make sure you will benefit from it without having any health effects that are unpleasant or dangerous. Some of your health conditions may affect the dose you are prescribed, so they need to be reported. The following health conditions need to be mentioned: depression, liver or kidney disease, a history of gallstones, high blood pressure, glaucoma, a history of a stroke, underactive thyroid, a bleeding disorder, a history of heart attack, heart disease, or seizures, as well as any other ones you think may be also important. Although you will have to take Meridia for some time before you will be able to see the first results, you are supposed to lose at least 4 pounds in the first 4 weeks of the treatment. Make sure you control our body mass and if you lost less than that – talk to your doctor as soon as possible, as the treatment may be inefficient in your case because of some reason. An overdose of this medication is expected to produce the following symptoms: headache, dizziness, and fast heart rate. In case you have taken too much of Meridia, seek emergency medical assistance ne to prevent the symptoms from getting worse. Always take as much of Meridia as your doctor prescribed, as otherwise health consequences can be unpredictable. Try to avoid combining Meridia with such medications as sedatives, cold or allergy medicine, muscle relaxants, depression and anxiety meds, medicine for seizures, and sleeping pills, as they can add to the drowsiness – one of Meridia side effects. In case of taking any of the following medications, make sure your health care provider is notified: lithium, migraine headache medicine, antidepressants or ergot medicine, as these can cause other interactions that you would rather avoid.
